Retroperitoneal Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery

Retroperitoneal Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery

$117.68

"Retroperitoneal Robotic Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery" provides urologists an easy way to learn the extraperitoneal alternative when performing laparoscopic or robot assisted procedures. There are significant technical differences between intra-peritoneal and retroperitoneal surgery. There are occasions, particularly with a history of prior intra-abdominal surgeries, when the retroperitoneal route is not only less invasive, but provides an efficient and effective way of performing the operation. This book provides a step-by-step guide of all extraperitoneal laparoscopic and robot assisted procedures. All chapters include an abstract and a conclusion, and the body of each chapter consists of indication and contraindication, preoperative preparation, operative steps, post operative management, and complications. ""Retroperitoneal Robotic Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery ""supports novices in making the transition from open extraperitoneal to laparoscopic or robotic extraperitoneal procedures. This book also assists the intermediate and advanced laparoscopist to further expand their skills working in the extraperitoneal space.

 Heal Your Heart with EECP

Heal Your Heart with EECP

$18.99

If you suffer from or are at risk for heart disease, surgery and invasive procedures are not your only options. There is a noninvasive, safe, and painless treatment that is clinically proven to be more successful in reversing the effects of the disease, improving blood circulation, and strengthening the cardiovascular system, all for a fraction of the medical costs. This groundbreaking procedure is called enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP), and it has been the best-kept secret in medicine-until now.Doctors have discovered that invasive procedures that treat specific artery blockages offer only a short-term fix for the underlying problem: poor blood flow. Using blood pressure cuffs to help push blood through the body, EECP promotes the development of new blood vessels to naturally bypass coronary blockages, restoring the flow of healthy, oxygenated blood to the heart. As a result, EECP reduces or eliminates symptoms such as chest pain, fatigue, and shortness of breath; increases energy and stamina; and returns heart patients to activities they thought they had given up forever. In HEAL YOUR HEART WITH EECP, Dr. Debra Braverman dispenses critical information about this revolutionary treatment.EECP patients are less likely than bypass, angioplasty, and stent patients to have a heart attack or require hospital stays.EECP is the ideal weapon in the fight against heart disease for patients battling obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and more.EECP brings none of the risks of surgery or invasive procedures and is provided in an outpatient setting.EECP is approved by the FDA and Medicare and covered by most private insurers, and it is appropriate for nearly all heart disease sufferers, regardless of age, size, or other medical conditions.

Mechanics and Energetics of the Myocardium

Mechanics and Energetics of the Myocardium

$268

During several decades of this century, the classical physiological studies on the cardiovascular system have greatly improved our knowledge on the function of this system under normal and pathological conditions. This knowledge was the basis of the breakthrough for diagnostic techniques like the Swan-Ganz catheter, coronary arteriography, left and right heart biopsies, and invasive measurements of contractility, as well as therapeutic tools including aororonary bypass surgery, percutanous transluminal coronary angioplasty, and a broad field of pharmacological interventions for the whole spectrum of cardiovascular diseases, especially chronic heart failure. It was during the last decade that the scientific world focused on the evolution of molecular biology of the cardiovascular system so that cardiovascular physiology seemed to become less important. Regarding the myocardium, molecular alterations of important functional proteins (phenotype changes), as well as signal transduction pathways of contractility and cardiac growth have been elucidated. The functional importance of a number of genes has undoubtedly been proven with the help of transgenic animals. Mechanics and Energetics of the Myocardium provides an overview for those researchers and practioners interested in the broad field of molecular biology and physiology of the cardiovascular system.

 Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery

Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery

In this updated and expanded edition of Goldstein and Oz’s much-praised classic survey, world experts comprehensively review the many innovations and changes that have occurred in the practice of minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS). The authors summarize the latest findings and results regarding such novel techniques as robotic surgery, hybrid revascularization, the use of off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) in high-risk populations, and new less invasive surgical approaches to the treatment of atrial fibrillation. They also provide a medium-term update on the current status of MICS in dealing with valvular and congenital heart disease and offer a more comprehensive understanding of procedures like mid-CABGs with longer-term followup and randomized data to help tease out real benefits and limitations. In addition, the book addresses the economic impact of MICS and quality-of-life issues, and shows how surgeons are not only performing the old operations with new tools, but are also creating new procedures precisely adapted to the new tools. With its state-of-the-art descriptions of each of the relevant procedures, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Second Edition should be in the libraries of all cardiac surgery residency program directors, as well as in the pockets of all their training and graduating surgery residents.

 Surgery of Coronary Artery Disease

Surgery of Coronary Artery Disease

$182.95

Bypass surgery (using veins from other parts of the body to replace diseased arteries in the heart) continues to be the intervention of choice for the majority of patients with coronary heart disease. Over 365,000 procedures are carried out a year in the USA; 25,000 in the UK. The AATS database of CAB procedures now numbers over one million clinical outcomes. While the standard procedures of bypass is well established and safe, clinical innovation looks sure to change practice over the next two years. Both minimally invasive (keyhole) and beating heart surgery (i.e. surgery without artificially stopping the heart and using cardiopulmonary bypass) have strong advocates and some benefits to the patient (e.g. less traumatic procedure, less physiological insult, better recovery time). The book contains a detailed section on patient investigation and selection together with detailed guidance on operative techniques. Surgery is considered within the overall management of patients with coronary artery disease, e.g. CAB often has to be used after re-stenosis of arteries following unsuccessful angioplasty. Follow-up and management of complications are also covered. Features: *Integrated color illustrations *Coverage of modern techniques *Fully revised and updated edition *Excellent clinical guidance on patient selection and management
